Camp Buckeye - March '07

It looked to be a wet weekend as it rained nearly the whole two hour drive to Camp Buckeye. However, it stopped when we got there and we never saw rain the rest of the weekend. We backpacked into the back end of the camp and set up at an outpost site. Following lunch, we hiked to Hobo Cave and then to the Dundee Falls. The hike wore everyone out as most were in their sleeping bags by 9:30! A great horned owl was heard above our tents in the middle of the night. It was fun to here it's calls answered by a couple of other owls in the distance. Also, a pileated woodpecker was spotted from our campsite. Some thought that they heard coyotes. Our Scoutmaster showed off the wash stand that he had built 30 years ago when he was a camp counselor at Camp Buckeye. It is still standing!
