We arrived at Camp Tuscazoar Friday night at 8:30 PM. The weather
was perfect--not a cloud in the sky. Saturday morning we got up, had
a quick breakfast, and packed for the day. The morning was
beautiful--not a cloud in the sky. Mr. Lindeboom decided not to pack
rain gear. Jarrett bet Mr. Lindeboom it was going to rain. Everyone
looked at Jarrett like he was nuts. We drove down to Schoenbrunn
Village and began the hike. It was mostly country roads. We stopped
for lunch and within about 15 minutes the sky turned from blue to
grey. Jarrett was smiling. An hour later he collected on his bet. It
rained, but not hard enough to pull out the rain gear. By the middle
of the afternoon, Mr. Robinson wished he had a quarter for every
time someone asked him how much farther we had to go. Finally, we
reached Dover Dam--close to the end of the first day's hike.
The second day we hiked on the towpath of the Ohio-Erie canal. We
stopped in the village of Zoar where Mr. Schluetz gave a tour. He
knew a lot since he used to live in Zoar. The second day was tough
as everyone was tired. We ended up at Pizza Hut and then headed
home.
We hiked a total of 22 miles in two days.
